Newbie - Out of context error

I have modified a DTD, by adding a new element, this has resulted in
all instances based on this DTD displaying an out of context error when
they are opened.

I am using Arbortext Epic v5.00b.

Any ideas?

Based on the information one can only guess.

Perhaps you did not give your new element a place to live, i.e.,
did not include it in the content model of any other element.
